About

Artist WiL LaBelle considers each pot, as a layered story - first beginning with a solid foundation, then fleshing out the structure with character and texture, and finally a definitive ending.

Having grown up in coastal Maine, his work is largely influenced by the regional aesthetic of New England  potters.  WiL has worked in  several production houses, which has made him an precise  thrower, with a keen eye for the finer details. He personally tests each new design in his own home, making small adjustments to the form, to ensure every pot he produces feels and functions as well as it looks.  Since trading Portland, Maine for Portland, Oregon in 2010, his work has become even more focused and refined, as he pursues the elusive, but gratifying journey of working in clay.

WiL works from his home studio in the South Tabor neighborhood of Portland, and instructs pottery classes at Georgies Ceramic and Clay, and the Oregon College of Art and Craft.
